And at last about piece B it moves in direction negative y (same here also)---(2)

We may get to understand that may due to gravity acting on the object piece B may travel faster but according to qs the toy is sitting at rest so the momentum of the piece B will be stopped due to the opposite force caused by the surface and it is also mentioned in qs that it is in friction less surface so no retardation process is occurring upon it
