Given, λ₁ = 4000 Å and λ₂ = 5000 Å

let the resolving power be R₁ and R₂.

Resolving power is inversely proportional to wavelength of the light.

→ R₁/R₂ = λ₂/λ₁

→ R₁/R₂ = 5000Å/4000Å

= 5/4

∴ R₁;R₂ = 5:4
