The first African American Congressman from gerogia was Jefferson Franklin. He actually spoke for the House of Representatives and was the first black person to do so. Jefferson Franklin was born on march 3, 1836 to a white father and an enslaved black mother. Even though he was enlisted as a slave he fought his way through to get where he was later on in his life.
