HCl produces acidity in stomach in the absence of food.

Explanation:

  • The hydrochloric acid is produced by the stomach so as to sterilize the food from microbes present in the food and also aids in digestion process.
  • In the absence of food the hydrochloric acid present in the stomach will digest the mucosal layer which covers the inner lining of the stomach. This will lead to burning of the walls of the stomach this will be responsible for acidity.
  • Thus in the given situation, it has been suggested that Jenny must not leave the stomach empty to avoid acidity.
