Given:

Total number of possible outcomes = 50

The box contains = 10 red straws, 5 green straws, 20 yellow straws, and 15 purple straws

We have to find, the probability that it will be green?

Solution:

The box contains = 5 green straws

Number of favourable outcomes = 5

∴ Probability = \dfrac{Number of favourable outcomes}{Total number of possible outcomes}

Probability(getting a green straws) = \dfrac{5}{50}

= \dfrac{1}{10} or, 0.1

Thus, the probability that it will be green is \dfrac{1}{10} or, 0.1.

Given :  Jerry has a box of 50 colored drinking straws.

The box contains 10 red straws, 5 green straws, 20 yellow straws, and 15 purple straws.

he selects one straw without looking

To Find    probability that it will be green

Solution:

Red = 10

Green = 5

Yellow = 20

Purple = 15

Total = 50

Probability of selecting green  =  Green / total

= 5/50

= 1/10

= 0.1

probability that it will be green = 0.1
