Given :- jerry went out for a walk. he covered 150m in the 1st minute. thereafter, the distance covered by him decreased by 10m every minute. find the total distance covered by jerry in 15 minutes ?

Solution :-

→ Distance covered in 1st minutes = 150m = a

→ Distance decreased in every minute = (-10) m = common difference = d

so,

→ S(n) = (n/2)[2a + (n - 1)d]

→ S(15) = (15/2)[2*150 + 14 * (-10)]

→ S(15) = (15/2) * 160

→ S(15) = 1200 m = 1.2 km

Hence, total distance covered by jerry in 15 minutes is 1.2 km .
