Jessica and Lorenzo have a relationship that differs significantly from the other relationships in the story. The key difference lies in the ex-societal nature of their bond. In the relationships between Bassanio and Portia, as well as between Nerissa and Gratiano, there is a larger community, outside the two consenting parties, that validates the relationship. In the case of Portia, she is not free to marry whom she wills because of the system of selection her father has put in place:
O me, the word choose! I may neither choose who I would, nor refuse who I dislike; so is the will of a living daughter curbed by the will of a dead father.

The Merchant of Venice

Lorenzo- Jessica love affair was the most different plot of the story.
This relationship was not at all common and obvious, specially in Elizabethan times. In those ages, when intercaste marriage was considered a sin, Jessica being a Jew married Lorenzo.
Jessica was unlike Portia. She actually listened to what her heart told her to do.She betrayed her father, robbed the money - all for living a happy life with Lorenzo. She was madly in love with Lorenzo.
Whereas,we could easily find that Lorenzo loved Jessica but still he was interested in her money. He didn't even plan for their ellopment. All the necessary arrangements were done by Jessica.
But still, the important thing is that Lorenzo didn't betray Jessica. He loved her a lot. But he was a careless person. Both had many differences. In other cases, this marriage would have failed but in their case this doesn't happen.
So, we can conclude that it was a happy ending at their part.
