The remaining waste from the cotton and mirchi plants get slightly decompose in the soil and hence made the soil rich in nutrients. Hence forth when the plants like marigold and jetropa are planted they can grow up in the nutrients rich soil and do not require fertiliser and manures from outside. Hence Jetropa and Marigold plants are cultivated in the fields of cotton and mirchi.

Intercropping within the first 5 years of a Jatropha or Marigold plantation is a very common thing.

Intercrop yields as per many studies is an optimized management practice in the field of plantations and agriculture.

Such trials are made in the states of Uttar Pradesh in India and have been successful.

So using limited irrigation and efforts multiple crops can be grown in between same fields. This it leads to higher profitability for farmers.
