Answer:

Distance = 6 km

Displacement = 0 km

Explanation:

Given :

  • Distance travelled for going to school from home = 3 km

  • Jhon goes and again returns back to home also

To find :

  • Distance covered by jhon
  • Displacement of jhon

Distance = 3 + 3 = 6 km (As jhon goes and again comes back so distance will be equal to the sum)

Displacement = 0km (As jhon returns back to his initial position and hence Displacement will be equal to 0 km)

Distance = 6 km

Displacement = 0 km

AnswEr :

Given that John travels from home to school covering a path of 3 km and returns back.

We have to find distance covered and displacement of john.

Let the point of home be A and point of school be B.

As John covers same distance twice i.e. home to school and school to home. So distance will twice the same path.

→ Total distance = AB + BA

→ Total distance = (3 + 3) km

Total distance = 6 km.

Total distance covered = 6 km (Ans : 1)

Now as John covers the same path amd returns to the same point i.e. home.

[Home to school - School to home]

So displacement will be equal to 0.

→ Total displacement = AB - BA

→ Total displacement = 3 - 3

Total displacement = 0

Total displacement of John = 0 (Ans : 2)
