Answer:

Jhumming is a type of farming that is also known as slash and burn agriculture. First farmers clear a patch of land and then they burn the trees that were cut. The ash is mixed with the soil and it is done to retain the soil fertility. Farmers grow usually crops of subsistence and intensive cultivation is not generally followed here.

Benefits

  • It retains soil fertility
  • it is economical
  • it is done in tribal areas
