So,

  • x + y = 14--------eq1.
  • xy = 45-----------eq2.

from eq1.

x = 14 - y-----------eq3.

Putting the value of x from eq3. to eq2.

  • xy = 45

=> [14 - y]y = 45

=> 14y - y² = 45

=> y² - 14y + 45 = 0

Solving this quadratic equation.

y² - 14y + 45 = 0

=> y² - 5y - 9y + 45 = 0

=> y[y - 5] -9[y - 5]

=> [y - 5]  [y - 9]

=> y = 5 or

     y = 9

So when y is 5 then x is 9 and when y is 5 then x is 9

So numbers can be 59 and 95
