Jim and Della both gave up the gifts to each other. della gave a platinum fob chain to him and Jim gave beautiful combs to della sa the present on the occasion of Christmas. they tell us that their presents were useless.their love was unconditional and priceless for each other. to express love the gifts didn't matter.
