Step-by-step explanation:

let the amount that Krutika gets be x, therefore, gets him the amount that jim get will be x +40

therefore 3/1=x+40/x

hence 3x=x+40

therefore x=40/2

x=20

Jim and Krutika got £80 altogether.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

Money shared in ratio 3:1.

Let the money got by Krutika be 'x'.

So given that;

Jim gets £40 more than Krutika.

Amount of money Jim gets = x+40

We need to find the Total money they get all together.

Solution:

Now we know that they share the money in ratio 3:1

So we can say that;

\frac{3}{1}=\frac{x+40}{x}

By Using Cross multiplication we get;

3x=x+40

Now Combining like terms we get;

3x-x=40\\\\2x=40

Dividing both side by 2 we get;

\frac{2x}{2}=\frac{40}{2}\\\\x=\£20

Amount of Money Krutika got = £20

Amount of money Jim Got = x+40=20+40=\£60

Now total money they got in all together can be calculated by adding amount of money Krutika got and amount of money Jim got.

framing in equation form we get;

total money = £20 + £60 = £80

Hence Jim and Krutika got £80 altogether.
