Given :

Total cupcakes placed : 60

Cupcakes placed by Jim : 0.45

Cupcakes placed be Dora : 10

Cupcakes placed by Ada : 25%

Remaining were placed by Kim.

To find :

The person who placed the most cupcakes.

Solution :

First, we should find the total cupcakes placed by Jim, Dora and Ada.

Cupcakes placed by Jim :

\sf \dashrightarrow 0.45 \: of \: 60

\sf \dashrightarrow \dfrac{45}{100} \times 60

\sf \dashrightarrow \dfrac{9}{20} \times 60

\sf \dashrightarrow \dfrac{9 \times 60}{20} = \dfrac{540}{20}

\sf \dashrightarrow \cancel \dfrac{540}{20} = 27

we also know that Dora has given 10 cupcakes

Remaining cupcakes :

\sf \dashrightarrow 60 - (27 + 10)

\sf \dashrightarrow 60 - 37

\sf \dashrightarrow 23

Cupcakes placed by Ada :

\sf \dashrightarrow 25\% \: of \: 23

\sf \dashrightarrow \dfrac{25}{100} \times 23

\sf \dashrightarrow \dfrac{1}{4} \times 23

\sf \dashrightarrow \dfrac{1 \times 23}{4} = \dfrac{23}{4}

\sf \dashrightarrow \cancel \dfrac{23}{4} = 5.75

Now, we can find the cupcakes placed by Kim.

Cupcakes placed by Kim :

\sf \dashrightarrow 23 - 5.75

\sf \dashrightarrow 17.25

Hence, Jim placed the maximum number of cupcakes.
