As per the data given in the question,

We have to determine the total number of chocolates left with Jam if he had a total of 18 chocolates and if he had given one - third of them to his friend.

As, Jim had given one - third of chocolates to his friends.

So, Number of chocolates given to friend will be

\frac{1}{3}\times 18\\=. 6

So, Number of chocolates left with Jim will be

=(18-6) = 12\:Chocolates
