Jim spent $13 to park for 5 hours. The parking garage charges a base rate of $4 for the first two 2 hours, and then an hourly rate for each additional hour, h. The equation 3h + 4 = 13 models Jim's parking cost. How much does each additional hour of parking cost?

Jim's additional parking cost =h (given)
now taking equation 3h+4=13
3h=13-4=9
h=9/3= 3
so Jim paid $3 for each additional hour
hope it helps

Each additional hour of parking cost $3.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

Total Money Spent on parking = $13

Number of hours  parked = 5 hrs

Base rate of garage for 2 hrs = $4

Hourly rate after 2 hrs = 'h'

Equation Models Jim parking cost = 3h+4=13

We need to find the each additional hour of parking cost.

By Solving the equation we get;

First Using Subtraction property we will subtract both side by 4 we get;

3h-4=13-4\\\\3h=9

Now Using Division Property we will divide both side by 3 we get;

\frac{3h}3=\frac{9}3\\\\h=\$3.

Hence Each additional hour of parking cost $3.
