jj Thomson was the first person to propose the structure of an atom. his structure was known as the plum pudding model
according to him an atom was a sphere in which protons were scattered and electrons were embedded into the spaces like watermelon seeds in a watermelon.
the demerits of this model were that it didn't explain the atomic spectrum and it didn't explain the scattering of alpha rays.
