As we know the formula of average velocity i.e average velocity(V)= (Total distance)/(total time).

Let the total distance be=100 km

Since time = distance/speed

Therefore, total time= ((40% of 100)/60 + (60% of 100)/40)= 2/3 + 3/2 =13/6 hrs.

Therefore average velocity=100/(13/6)=600/13=46.16 km/hr (approx.)
