Jo is going on for a 8- day holiday. Each day she can pick up either of the two water sports: kayaking or swimming or a land sports. She doesn’t select different combinations on consecutive days. But she wants to play all three activities at least once. How many different combinations are possible?

Answer:

6533

Step-by-step explanation:

total unrestrictes selections are 3power 8 =6561 as he is free to choose 3 on each of 8 days = 3×3×3........×3

now on any consecutive days ( ie 7 couples) cannot have 4 combinations ie SS ,KK,SK,KS=28

so answer is 6561-28 = 6533 schedules
