Joan wishes to mix some tea worth $1.40 per pound with another types of tea worth $2.25 per pound in order to make a 10 pound mixture worth $1.74 per pound. how many pounds of the $ 1.40 tea should she use?? ​

Let he use x pound of $1.40 tea ,

x(1.4) +(10-x)(2.25) = 10*1.74

1.4x + 22.5 - 2.25x = 17.4

5.1 = 0.85x

x = 5.1/0.85 = 4.335 (Ans.)
