Answer:

Let the age of Joas's father be x years,

then age of Joas = 2x/7 years

and, age of Joas's brother = 3 + 2x/7 = (21 + 2x)/7

Given, that the ratio of present age of Joas's father to that of Joas's brother = 14:5

or, x/(21 + 2x)/7 = 14/5

5x = 14 (21 + 2x)/7

5x = 2(21 + 2x)

5x = 42 + 4x

5x - 4x = 42

x = 42 years

Hence, the age of Joas's father = 42 years.

Now, age of Joas's brother = (21 + 2x)/7 = (21 + 2 × 42)/7 = (21 + 84)/7

= 105/7 = 15 years old

And, Joas's present age = 2x/7 = 2 × 42/7 = 2 × 6 = 12 years

Step-by-step explanation:

When thyroid hormone levels are low (hypothyroidism), your body doesn't break down and remove LDL cholesterol as efficiently as usual. LDL cholesterol can then build up in your blood. Thyroid hormone levels don't have to be very low to increase cholesterol.
