Answer:

mark has 35 shirts

and joe has 73

let mark have x shirts and

joe have y shirts

therefore,by the given condition

joe will have shirts 3x-32

therefore, y=3x-32

thus 3x-y=32..................(1)

from second condition,

x+y=108...........................(2)

now adding equation (1)and(2)

3x-y=32

+

x+y=108

we get,4x=140

therefore x=140/4

x=35

put value of x in equation (2)

x+y=108

35+y=108

y=108-35

therefore, y=73

thus mark has 35 shirts and

joe has 73 shirts

x+y=108

x-3y=-32

solve it by subtracting eq1 with 2

you'll get y=35 and x=73

and here x and y are number of shirts of joe and mark respectively

And if you will still face any doubt in the answer confirm it by putting the values of x and y in any of the eq

if I'll put it in eq where x+y=108

so 73+35=108

that is 108=108

LHS=RHS
