Answer:

$10

Step-by-step explanation:

If Joe has 1/2*Josie and Bob has 4*Joe, then Bob has 2*Josie. This yields the equation 1/2 Josie (Joe) + 2 Josie (Bob) + Josie = 35. Simplifying, 3 1/2 Josie = 35. Solving:

Multiply both sides of the equation by 2.

(3×2+1)j=70

Multiply 3 and 2 to get 6.

(6+1)j=70

Add 6 and 1 to get 7.

7j=70

Divide both sides by 7.

j=

7

70

Divide 70 by 7 to get 10.

j=10
