Step-by-step explanation:

Let speed of wind is x mph against the wind speed of plane will be (170-x) mph so distance traveled in 3.2 hours will be 3.2*(170-x) miles in return trip

Answer:

Speed (s)=170 miles/hr

Let distance (d) be x and speed of wind be y.

Case 1:-

Time=3.2 hr

s=d/Time

170-y=x/3.2

(170-y)/3.2=x

Case 2:-

Time=2.8 hr

s=d/Time

170+y=x/2.8

(170+y)/2.8=x

10(170+y)/28=10(170–y)/32 [x=x]

32(170+y)=28(170-y)

5440+32y=4760–28y

5440–4760=32y-28y

680=4y

680/4=y

y=170 Ans.
