Jogging at their normal speeds, Usha takes 3 minutes to jog once around a running track, while Tessie takes 4 minutes to do the same.
If Usha's normal jogging speed is 12 km/hr, what is Tessie's normal jogging speed?

To Find : Tessie's normal jogging speed

Solution:

Usha takes 3 minutes to jog once around a running track,  

Let say Track length = 12L m

Usha speed = 12L/3  =  4L m/s

Tessie takes 4 minutes  to jog once around a running track,  

Tessie speed = 12L/4  =  3L m/s

Usha speed : Tessie speed  = 4L : 3L

=> Usha speed : Tessie speed  = 4  : 3

Usha's normal jogging speed is 12 km/hr,

Tessie's normal jogging speed  = T km/hr

=> 4/3  = 12/T

=> T = 9 km/hr

Tessie's normal jogging speed = 9 km/hr
