Dear Student,

◆ Answer -

John has 198 marbles

● Explanation -

Let j, d and t be no of marbles John, David and Tom have respectively.

From given data,

j + d = 276 ...(1)

j + t = 432 ...(2)

t = 3d ...(3)

Substitute (3) in (2),

j + 3d = 432

3d = 432 - j

d = (432-j)/3

d = 144 - j/3 ...(4)

Substitute (4) in (1),

144 - j/3 + j = 276

2j/3 = 276 - 144

j = 132 × 3/2

j = 198

Therefore, John has 198 marbles.

Hope that's all...
