Given :-

• John bought 100 egg for Rs 40 .

• Out of 100 , 4 eggs were broken

• He sold remaining at the rate of 7.50per dozen

Solution :-

The cost price of 100 eggs = Rs40

Now,

Selling price of 12 eggs = Rs 7.50

Selling price of 1 egg = Rs7.50/12

Since, 4 eggs were broken so now only 96 eggs left.

Therefore,

SP of 96 eggs = 7.50/ 12 * 96

SP of 96 eggs = 7.50 * 8

SP of 96 eggs = Rs 60

Here, SP is more than the CP it means he gains profit.

Profit = SP - CP

Profit = 60 - 40

Profit = Rs 20

Now , Calculating profit %

Profit % = Profit / CP * 100

Profit % = 20 / 40 * 100

Profit% = 200/4

Profit % = 50%

Hence, The shopkeeper gains a profit of 50% .
