Let 45 minutes be 3/4 hours and 1 1/2 hours be 3/2 hours

Now... 3/1 - (3/4 + 3/2)

3 - (3/4 + 6/4)

3 - (9/4)

12/4-9/4 = 3/4 hours which will be 45 minutes...

Hope it helped u....

Answer:

Free time John had = 3 Hours

Time he spent on homework = 45 minutes

Time he spent on playing games = 1 1/2 hours

∴ Total time he spent on playing games and doing his homework = 45 + 1 1/2

                                                                                                         = 2 hrs 15 mins

∴ Time that he was left with = 3 hours - 2 hours 15 minutes

                                              = 45 minutes.

∴ Fraction of time left = 45/60

                                    = 0.75 = 1/4 minutes
