Answer:

John’s current Age =5 x

Sister’s current age = x

After two years, John’s new age = x+2

Sister’s new age = 2x

We know, John would be twice old as her sister

(x + 2) = 2 x 5

x+2 = 10

x = 10–2 = 8

Answer:

john's age = 8

Step-by-step explanation:

Take John's age as j ,

his father's age as f,

and his sisters age as s.

Now,

Their ages after 2 years will be j + 2, f + 2, and s+2 respectively.

So, we got a equation by this~

f + 2 + j + 2 + s + 2 = 58 _(1

Now,

It is given -

• father is 5 times the age of his son : f = 5j _(2

• john is twice his sis : j = 2s _(3

solution :

f + 2 + j + 2 + s + 2 = 58

[ substituting equation 2nd here ]

5j + 2 + j + 2 + s + 2 = 58

[ substituting equation 3rd here ]

5(2s) + 2 + (2s) + 2 + s + 2 = 58

13s + 6 = 58

s = 4

So, John = 2(4) = 8 yrs old.
