John, twelve years old, is three times as old as his brother. how old will john be when he is twice as old as his brother?

Let his brother's age be x.
Then ATQ:-
John is 3 times his brother
So John's age =3×x=3x
Then ATQ:-
3x = 12(given in question)
x = 12÷3
x=4
Therefore if John is twuce of his brothers age then his age will be 2×4
=8years
