Let his brother's age be x.
Then ATQ:-
John is 3 times his brother
So John's age =3×x=3x
Then ATQ:-
3x = 12(given in question)
x = 12÷3
x=4
Therefore if John is twuce of his brothers age then his age will be 2×4
=8years
Then ATQ:-
John is 3 times his brother
