Given : The rational numbers given on the boundaries of the rectangles .

To find : Join the equivalent rational numbers .

Solution:

  • Now the rational numbers are as follows on the sides of the rectangle ABCD.
  • From A to B, we have:

                    side  AB = 2/7, 12/28, 2/28, -13/32, -4/9

  • From B to C, we have:

                    side  BC = 1/-2, 1/5, 6/21 , 21,28, 1/6, -2/6, 1/14

  • From C to D, we have:

                    side CD = 3/4, 3/-8 , 10/20 , 3/5

  • From D to A, we have:

                    side DA = -1/3, -3/15, 12/-27, 3/18

  • Now there are some numbers are not in form of simplified term, so making all in lowest form, we get:

                    AB = 2/7, 3/7, 1/14, -13/32, -4/9

                    BC = -1/2, 1/5, 2/7 , 3/4, 1/6, -1/3 , 1/14

                    CD =  3/4, -3/8 , 1/2 , 3/5

                    DA = -1/3,   -1/5,    -4/9,    1/6

  • Now comparing the terms, equal rational numbers are:

                    21/28 = 3/4

                     2/28  = 1/14

                     2/7 =  6/21

                    1/6  = 3/18

                    -2/6  = -1/3

                    -4/9 = 12/-27

Answer:

            So the similar terms that will be joined are :

             21/28 = 3/4 ,    2/28  = 1/14 ,    2/7 =  6/21 ,   1/6  = 3/18 ,   -2/6  = -1/3,    -4/9 = 12/-27
