Today, quite a number of urban couples are opting for a nuclear family. The general perception is that it’s always easier to set up a nuclear family after one’s wedding.
The primary reason seems to be availability of more space for the members of the family.

Children become more responsible: Growing up in a nuclear family makes children more responsible. While the general belief is that children in a nuclear family do not interact with others, there are those who contest the claim.
According to some couples who have opted for a nuclear family, children from a nuclear family learn to solve problems on their own and exhibit a sense of ownership. “They look up to their parents, who delegate responsibilities and also make the kids share work — household or otherwise. The children also see their parents as being supportive of each other and learn from them,” says Kamala Raman, a relationship expert. Children tend to be more inclined towards extra-curricular activities: Children in a nuclear family are more likely to do better in school and become more involved in extra-curricular activities. Usually, in a nuclear famiy, both parents work. So, it only makes sense for the children to have one or more extracurricular activities. Also, children tend to be more independent. According to Kamala Raman, “Children opt for activities like dance, music and swimming, especially if both the parents are working. Children who are provided with these type of opportunities are likely do better academically and socially. This also helps them develop confidence and time management skills as well.”
