The joint parliamentary committee is an ad-hoc type of body that has to serve for a given particular time and issue. They have occupied a position of eminence in our country because of their power and purpose.

These committees can get the evidence suo moto or through requests made by them from the individual, organizations, institutions, or any other body as required, if in the response to it witness fails to appear before the committee, his conduct will be constituted as a contempt of the house.

The proceedings brought by joint parliamentary committees are confidential, and the government may or may not withhold the final decision.
