Given:

10 cards having numbers: 3, 8, 13, 18, 23, 28, 33, 48, 53, and 68

To find:

What is the least number of cards Jonah can choose such that their sum is 100? Write down one combination with the least amount of cards

Solution:

68 cannot be one of the number because 100 - 68 = 32 and we cannot form 32 out of the remaining numbers.

58 can be one of the number as 100 - 53 = 47 and we can form 47 out of the remaining numbers.

3 + 8 + 13 + 23 + 53 = 100

48 cannot be one of the number as 52 cannot be formed out of the remaining numbers.

33 can be one of the numbers.

3 + 13 + 23 + 28 + 33 = 100

Therefore, the minimum number of cards to be selected = 5

Combinations are:

  1. 3 + 8 + 13 + 23 + 53 = 100
  2. 3 + 13 + 23 + 28 + 33 = 100
