Joseph jogs from one end A to the other end B of a straight 300 m road in 2 min 50s and then turns around and jogs 100m back to point C in another 1 min. What are Joseph 's average speeds and velocities in jogging 1.from A to B. 2. from A. To. B?

From A to B
1) average speed =Total distance/total time
total distance= 300m
total time = 2min 50s =170s
average speed=300/170 = 30/17 =1.76m/s

Average velocity=average speed
becoz in distance is travel is in straight line where distance and displacement are equal .
Average velocity= total displacement/Total time

2) From A to C
Average speed= total distance/ total time
total distance= 400m
total time = 230s
Average speed= 400/230=1.73m/s

Average velocity= total displacement/total time
total displacement= 200m
total time= 230s
Average velocity= 200/230= 0.86m/s
