Answer:

NO

Step-by-step explanation:

NO it is not possible to find their present age.

first let the age of 1st friend be x and 2nd friend be y.

Now sum of their ages ,

=> x+y = 20. --------- (1)

Now age of 1st 4 years ago = x-4

Age of 2nd 4 years ago = y-4

Now according to the question,

=> (x-4) × (y-4) = 48

=> xy - 4x - 4y + 16 = 48

=> xy -4x-4y = 32

=> xy -4 (x+y) = 32

=> xy - 4 × 20 = 32 (from equation 1)

=> xy -80 = 32

=> xy = 112.

Here we know that ages can only be in positive integers.

Thatswhy here we got a condition that the product of two integers is 112 and their sum is 20. And no such pair of integers exist.
