HELLO JI HERE IS UR ANSWER

The play is titled "the dear Departed" After reading the title one expects a sentimental, emotional, play that would be about the morning of a loss. however from the first dialogue the tone of the play is set. The reader realise that in the Slater household, no one spates a kind or gentle thought about the person who has died. No one Except Victoria, mouurn the loss of human being. They r busy concerned about appearance and pretences.
miss Jordan arrival and her subsequent behavior are in tune with the Slater.

THE IRONY OF THE TITLE IS Reinforced by the pretty actions of the two daughters. they don't remember their father but r busy pinching things off. they squabble over tinklets and evade responsibility.

The writer present a realistic middle class setting where materialism and greed have overshadow human emotions and love.

the dead might have Departed but there is no dearness attached to him.
