Explanation:

When two resistors are connected in parallel combination the total resistance is less than the lowest resistance in that group of resistors

So in this case also the resistance will be less than 1 ohm as you can see in the solution below

Let R1 = 1 ohm and R2 = 100ohms

Since they are connected in parallel

Total resistance (R) = R1*R2/R1+R2 (1/R =1/R1 + 1/R2

=R1+R2/R1*R2,therfore R = R1*R2/R1+R2)

R = 1*100/1+100= 100/101 = 0.99 ohms
