Judicial review is indeed one of the major roles played by the judiciary. The judiciary is an independent body in a democracy. It is the role of judiciary to check the working done by the executive and the legislature. It has a duty to comply and present a solution to whatever challenges put forward by the govt. or the citizens. It is the only yet wide body in a democracy that has the right to punish the executives and provide equal rights so as to abide by the constitution. The Chief Justice is chosen very wisely to follow these customs.

Hope it helps you :)
