Judiciary in a democratic country should be independent and impartial because:

In a democratic country it is important that the  judges and the judiciary in general is impartial and independent.

Hence not affecting the functions of the judiciary

Hence those prosecuted have confidence that their cases will be decided fairly and in accordance with law.

This implies that the main aim to be independent is that no one should dominate the judiciary.

A democracy has a government at its helm, elected by representatives of its states, who themselves are elected by the people. Hence, a democratic country is truly ‘by the people, for the people’.

In such a country, the judiciary has to be absolutely independent and impartial. It should transcend above politics and personal opinions, to deliver just and un-biased verdicts. Equality should be the underpinning factor of a democratic judiciary.
