The capacity of D would be 24 L

Step-by-step explanation:

Consider a, b, c and d represents the capacities ( in liters ) of jugs A, B, C and D respectively,

∵ Jug C can hold 3 time as much water as jug B,

i.e. c = 3b           ......(1),

Jug B can hold 4L more water than jug A.

i.e. b = a + 4      ......(2),

jug A and jug D together can hold as much water as jug C,

i.e. a + d = c      ......(3)

Now, if c = 30 l,

From equation (1),

30 = 3b

10  = b

From equation (2),

10 = a + 4

6 = a

From equation (3),

6 + d = 30

      d = 30 - 6

      d = 24

Hence, the capacity of Jar D is 24 L.
