Juhi is a highly educated top executive in charge of research and development. Rajat is her
underpaid assistant, struggling to support his family. His performance evaluations have always
been more than adequate.
As one of his research projects, Rajat designs a creative software package that addresses major
concerns within the company. He shares this program with Juhi, hoping it will bring him a
much-needed promotion and raise. Juhi’s boss has asked her to design an innovative and
efficient program. But pressures of her position keep her from setting aside sufficient time to
do the requested work.
Juhi, eager to successfully complete the job her boss assigned, is thinking of presenting Rajat’s
program to her boss and passing it off as her own. If Rajat objects, she can threaten to lower
his performance evaluations or possibly even fire him. If he agrees to go along with the
scheme, she can give him a raise and a promotion.

Juhi can do the following things:

  • Before presenting Rajat`s work as her own, she should first ask Rajat.
  • Rajat who is already struggling to support his family needs a promotion. The idea of giving him a raise is going to benefit both Rajat and Juhi.
  • If Rajat objects, Juhi should not present his work under her name. As in the future, if the truth is revealed, she will lose the reputation and respect she has earned over years.
  • She can ask for some extra help from her colleagues to help her finish off the project on time.
