Julie gave 1/4 of a pizza to her friend. She cut the remainder equally into 6 slices. what fraction of the whole pizza was each slice?

let the total pizza without any division is = 1

Julie gave 1/4 from it so, =

$1 - \frac{1}{4} = \frac{1}{1} - \frac{1}{4} \\ \frac{4 - 1}{4} \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: (lcm = 4) \\ = \frac{3}{4}$

now she devides it into 6 slices so

$\frac{ \frac{3}{4} }{6} = \frac{3}{4} \times \frac{1}{6} = \frac{1}{8}$

so , each slice is 1/8 of the pizza
