Answer:

HEY BUDDY,

I think that he was in the earth's atmosphere and as a result gravity worked and he fell.

The gravity well created by the mass of the Earth means that anything caught in it will "fall" towards its centre. The only thing keeping satellites in space is their speed of rotation about the Earth providing the centripetal force that balances the gravity. This also means that weightlessness in space is not because there is no gravity, but because objects are continually "falling" in the gravity well. An object, including an astronaut, can slow down enough over time so that it will fall in towards the Earth and probably burn up in the atmosphere. Alternatively an astronaut simply passing by the Earth can get caught in the gravity well and fall towards Earth, and then might whizz off at an angle if at just the right entry angle and speed, bounce off the atmosphere back into space or burn up on entry to the atmosphere.
