Sol: Dust is also considered as a pollutant of air. It is concentrated with the pollen grains which also are considered as dust. Dust is released by constructions, factories, industries, plants, mining activities etc. Dust mainly constitutes solid particles less than 500 micrometres in size. It is made up of unburnt carbon particles, skin cells, pollen grins, hair, fine grains of minerals, thin fibres, soil particles etc. All these particles of dust make it a pollutant. Dust causes respiratory diseases, skin diseases etc.

Dust remain present in air as suspended particle. It can cause allergy and respiratory diseases. It also affect plant growth by covering stomata on leaf surface and blocking them. It acts as the carrier toxic compounds like heavy metals. Thus, dust acts as a pollutant.
