To justify:
Although the Isobars have same mass numbers, their masses are not exactly the same.
Justification:
- Isobars atoms of different elements having different atomic number , but same atomic mass.
- This means that ; for Isobars , the number of electrons (or protons) are different but the sum of of protons and neutrons are same.
- If we compare the masses of proton and neutron we will observe that their masses are slightly different.
Now , let's take an example:
We have two atoms each with 38 atomic mass;
- So, one atom having 20 neutrons + 18 protons will have slightly different mass as compared to another atom having 18 neutrons and 20 protons.
- So, even when the mass number is same, still the actual mass is different.
Hope It Helps.

Answer:
Although Isobars have the same mass number, their masses are not exactly the same. This is because the mass of a neutron is not exactly the same as that of a proton, a neutron is slightly heavier. There are mass spectrometers sensitive enough to measure a hundredth of a mass of the neutron.
