Justify that underground parts are not always roots

in some plants stem reamins underground to carry out some additional functions , like food storage and vegitative reproduction . for example, potatoes are modified form of underground stems

1. The under ground part of any plant is generally the root, but it always need not be a root.

2. Some times the stems also remain beneath the surface of the soil.

3. Such stems are called underground stems.

4. The normal stem characters are evident in stem.

5. The nodes, internodes, scale leaves, axillary and terminal buds are clearly seen in them.

6. So, under ground parts of plants are not always roots.

7. Ex :- Stem tuber of potato
