The tittle of the play is absolutely perfect and correct. DEAR DEPARTED TITLE is a very well - chosen title with irony and pun in the word DEPARTED. It highlights the satirical element of the play as the "departed soul" is hardly " dear" to any adult character of the play" The DEPARTED " refers to the grandfather's demise. In the next half the " departed dear one" is shocked at the news of his own death and avaricious attitude of his daughters and sons- in law. He thend announces his decision to " depart " from his daughters and start his life afresh.
HENCE NO OTHER TITLE COULD BE APPROPRIATE THAN "DEAR DEPARTED "
Hope this helps!
