JUSTIFY THE NAME AKASH GANGA GIVEN TO THE MILKY WAY

Since, the milky way galaxy appeared like white glowing river in the sky on a clear night,Indians named it "Akash Ganga" [meaning of akash "sky" and they compared the milky way with the Ganga river (i.e one of the sacred river in India) resulting in the word "Ganga".
