\textbf{When  Industrial activity starts,} \\ \textbf{ urbanisation follows:-}

1) Industrialisation and urbanisation go hand in hand as cities provide market and also provide services such as banking, insurance,etc.

2) Many industries come together to make use of advantages offered by the urban centres known as \bf{agglomeration\:economies}.

3) In the Pre-independence period,most manufacturing units were located near the ports, so there emerged certain pockets of industrially developed urban centres surrounded by a huge agricultural rural hinterland. So, the cities started to emerge.
